Greetings! It’s the final weekend of November and I’ve spent the month mostly writing posts related to gaming memories or nostalgia in some way or another. My final #NovemberNostalgia post is the 30 Games Tag, which sounded like a bit of fun after reading Michelle’s answers over at A Geek Girl’s Guide. Let’s-a go, shall we?
- The last single-player game you played
At the time of writing this – Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. I’m having a lot of fun playing it and intend to write up my thoughts on the game at some point in the next couple weeks.
- The last multiplayer game you played
I actually haven’t played too many multiplayer games recently, so I believe Overwatch would be the most recent multiplayer game. After that, maybe Mario 35 on the Switch?
- A game you’ve played through multiple times
Resident Evil 4 – one of my all-time favorites and a game I play through every year or so.

- A game in your favorite genre
I’m not sure what I’d consider my single, favorites game genre. I’ve loved platformers as long as I can remember, so let’s go with….Donkey Kong Country.
- A game in your backlog
There’s….quite a few games currently sitting in my backlog, so I’ll just randomly pick one that’s been there a while without ever being played – Dragon Age: Inquisition
- The game you’ve put the most hours into
I put like 200+ hours into Call of Duty: Black Ops 4….I spent a LOT of hours playing Blackout mode after the game was released. If not that, I would assume it would be Overwatch or going way back to something like Halo 3 on the Xbox 360.
- A game you never finished
Yeah, there’s…a few to choose from here. Let’s go with Persona 5. JRPGs are a genre that I play plenty of(and really enjoy) but have a hard time completing as I usually get stuck/lost/distracted by something else. Dragon Quest XI would be another one that I really want to finish up.
- A game in third person
Yakuza 0 is a third-person game I’ve been playing recently

- A game in first person
Titanfall 2 – Another favorite game that I never shut up about.
- A game you’ve replayed
Sonic 2 – A favorite since I was a kid.
- A game you play to relax
Super Mario Odyssey. Still love to kick back and relax while playing Mario Odyssey, even after beating the game and collecting nearly all 999 moons…a couple times.
- A game that gets you excited
DOOM Eternal…hell yes

- A game from your favorite developers
Not quite sure who I would consider my favorite developers. I would probably go with Nintendo’s first-party studios, so….Super Metroid or Majora’s Mask.
- Your favorite indie game
That’s a pretty tough one…Cuphead, maybe? I really enjoy a lot of indie games, but the boss-rush, shooter genre mixed with 1930’s-era Fleischer animation and music made Cuphead a pretty special game. Guacamelee is another favorite indie game.
- Your favorite AAA game
Another tough one. My all-time favorite game is Super Mario 3, followed pretty closely by Resident Evil 4.
- Your favorite board game
I’m one of those people that like quiz games, so I’ll go with Trivial Pursuit.
- Your favorite multiplayer game
They’re not purely multiplayer games, but I’d likely have to pick Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. I invested many, many hours playing those games online on PS3 and Xbox 360.

- Your favorite single-player game
Super Mario 3….I know I’m not providing too many unique answers here.
- Your favorite game series
I’ve loved pretty much every Mario game released since I was about 3, so I’ll go with that.
- Your favorite game from childhood
I’ll refrain from mentioning Mario again, so I’m gonna go with Banjo-Kazooie(big surprise).
- An overrated game
I really don’t like calling games overrated…I have a number of games that never appealed to, or clicked with me quite the same way as others. This past summer it seemed the entire internet was buzzing about Fall Guys, which I played a bit and just couldn’t get into.
- An underrated game
Guacamelee. I always bring up that game whenever I can, especially to those who love metroidvania games.

- Your guilty pleasure game
I don’t know that I have a “guilty pleasure” game, there’s plenty of games from my younger days that I tried to downplay how much I enjoyed them due to not being considered cool enough. I remember feeling almost embarrassed how much I liked “kiddie” Nintendo games like Animal Crossing or Pikmin as a teenage male. Never feel guilty about yourself and what you like. Live your best life and anyone who makes you feel bad about it can kindly fuck off.
- A game based on a movie
I loved the Spider-Man game from the first Sam Raimi movie back in 2002. I remember playing through it several times on my GameCube. Movie games historically have a pretty spotty record, so an enjoyable one is extra memorable. Otherwise, Aladdin…Genesis version, of course.
- A game with an awesome soundtrack
Hades – Awesome game with an awesome sountrack. Go play it.
- A game with awesome artwork
Ori and the Will of the Wisps – Awesome game with awesome artwork. Go play it.

- A game with awesome voice acting
Naughty Dog games have consistently good voice acting. Ashley Johnson and Laura Bailey were great in The Last of Us Part 2
- A game best played with a controller
Super Smash Bros. Pretty much any Nintendo game could be an answer for this…
- A game best played with mouse and keyboard
Any point-and-click adventure game? Other games using a heavier inventory system, such as dungeon-crawlers like Diablo typically feel a little more intuitive with a mouse and keyboard.
- An upcoming game you’re excited for
Cyberpunk 2077. I believe I’m not the only one eagerly anticipating this one…
